Eligibility to Sit Exams
★ Students must attend all exam classes and extra rehearsals to ensure readiness. Absences due to illness or school events are understandable, but missed work must be caught up promptly.
★ For grades requiring two ballet classes, both must be attended to maintain eligibility for the exam.
★ Grade 5 Ballet students need a character skirt (available for hire through the studio) and character shoes, which must be purchased separately. Check second-hand options or visit Sequin City for new shoes.
★ Major Ballet students (Sub Elementary to Premier) must have Demi-Pointes and Pointe shoes before classes begin.
★ Grade 5 students starting pre-pointe work may need Pointe shoes if deemed ready, based on individual foot and ankle strength assessments.
★ Theory is required for certain levels, and students must learn theoretical components to enhance their results and understanding of dance techniques.
★ Higher levels requiring choreography may require additional practice outside class time.
★ ADC recommends using the online learning platform for all grades to review work, aiding memory retention and improving corrections.
★ Exam grades cannot be skipped without the Director's approval. Specific grades and genres may have prerequisites, which can be clarified upon request.
★ Proper exam attire and a bun hairstyle are mandatory for all exam classes across all genres.
★ Students must have the required shoes for each genre to participate in exams.
★ Exam fees are due one full term before scheduled exams. Payment is required to secure exam entries.
